Dear Parents and Carers
A Virtual Welcome to Beths Grammar School
During these unprecedented times, we are unfortunately unable to welcome you to Beths Grammar School in person to see what we can offer your son from September and beyond. However, we have put together a number of videos for you to watch, from the comfort of your own living room, which we hope will give you a flavour of the school.
There is also a Question and Answer section on this page where we have pre-empted some of the questions you may ask. Of course, if you want to ask anything else, please email email@example.com and we will endeavour to respond. We know that this is slightly different to a ‘normal’ year as you are being asked to select your school choices for your son, despite him not even having sat the Bexley Selection Test, let along, received his results!
The first video is a virtual tour of Beths Grammar School. Again, due to our ‘new normal’ you will see that the school has taken all the necessary measures to ensure the safety of our whole school community during this pandemic. If you spot a yellow and black line on the floor, for instance, that is there so that staff know that they should not cross it when in a class with students. Face masks are also worn within the communal areas inside the school but not when in a classroom, so you may always spot one or two of these.
The second video is the formal welcome from myself. I tell you a little about what we can offer your son here at Beths and what a normal day at the school would look like for him. I also tell you about our ethos and the pastoral support that he can expect to receive. I hope that you will find my welcome helpful and informative.
Our third set of videos have been filmed within departments and give you a taste of the subject and a hint of the type of lessons he will receive. We hope that these will give you an idea of the type of teaching and learning your son will receive at Beths Grammar School and possibly some of the teachers who he can expect to be taught by.
I would also urge you to sign up to all our social media platforms – detailed at the foot of this letter – where, as a new addition to the regular posts, we are uploading short snippets from actual lessons, as they take place, to give you an even better insight into life at Beths.
Finally, I hope you have enjoyed watching and reading all the information available to you on this ‘Virtual Open Event’ page and, indeed, the rest of our website. If you have any further questions, as I said earlier in this welcome letter, please do contact us.
