Our Pastoral System

We pride ourselves in taking care of your academic needs and mental well-being at Beths.

We were proudly awarded the Wellbeing Award for Schools (WAS) by the National Children’s Bureau (2020 – 2023).

Beths is committed to the emotional wellbeing and mental health of all students.  Most students thrive at Beths; however, if you feel you are struggling with anxiety or low mood or just want to talk through a situation either at school or at home, you can come to a number of people and support will be offered by the school, such as a referral to our counselling service.  However, there is also an extensive list of external resources listed on our website Wellbeing section that may also help to support you.

We are also very proud of the extensive Pastoral System that we have in the Sixth Form to allow existing students to transition comfortably and new students to settle in, find their way and achieve.

Every Year 12 student will have a dedicated Form Tutor who they will meet daily for 30mins. Your Tutor will help you settle in, make new friends, find your way around the school, issue you with timetables, be your first port of call for concerns or questions throughout the year. They will also teach you PSHE weekly.

In addition to your Form Tutor, we also have an extensive support network in place:

  • Head of Year 12
  • Head of Year 13
  • Assistant Heads of Year 12/13
  • Head of Sixth Form
  • Safeguarding Team
  • Student Mental Health Ambassadors
  • 2 fulltime School Counsellors
  • Student Buddy System
  • UCAS Mentors
  • Academic Mentors
  • Career Guidance
  • First-aid
