Basketball – Dynamik National Schools Competition

On Thursday 9 May the Year 7 Basketball team took a trip up to Manchester for the Dynamik National Schools Competition.

As we arrived at the National Basketball Performance Centre the atmosphere was thriving, with many schools from around the country warming up for the competition. Our first match was against a very big and physical Bohunt Liphook (Hampshire) side, where the boys put up a good fight but unfortunately lost 30 points to 18. However the disappointment of losing fuelled the boys going into the second match versus Southland’s School (Lancashire), as the boys turned things around and began to play some excellent basketball, moving the ball well and scoring many of our shots; full time result 30-10 to Beths. In our third and final game the boys faced a strong Trinity High School side from Manchester, which proved a very close contest. It was neck and neck going into the last quarter, where both sides looked like they could have won, however Trinity excelled scoring a few late baskets which saw them win the tie 34 – 30.
