Christmas Carol Service

Our annual trip to Christ Church in Bexleyheath took place on Wednesday 19 December for all Key Stage 3 students.  We all joined in with an array of Christmas carols which were interspersed with readings and musical pieces spoken and played by both students and members of staff.  This was a lovely afternoon which got us all in the mood for Christmas.

A special thank you to Reverend Trevor Wyatt, Vicar of Christ Church who led the service and to all the students and staff who participated.

Christmas Concert

This was held on Tuesday 4 December and what a turn out it was!   It was a fantastic display of Beths students and their various musical talents.  The PA were in charge of refreshments during the interval and sold many mince pies ensuring they raised plenty of extra money to put towards the school.

We received a great review on Twitter:

‘What an absolutely fantastic evening, full of amazing musicians and performances!  I am in awe of you all.  Thank you to Mrs Marriott and her music department, it truly was a memorable night!  Bravo!’

On Monday 4th February 2019, 2pm - 3.15pm, to celebrate the start of Chinese New Year, our MFL Department will be hosting another Afternoon Tea.

There will be food, drinks and entertainment and is set to be a great event.

This event is for retired and semi-retired members of the community and costs just £2.00 per person.

To reserve your place, please call us on 01322 556 538 or email admin@beths.bexley.sch.uk by Monday 28th January.

We can't wait to see you there!

OAP Afternoon Tea by Miss Price

On Monday 10 Decemeber, Beths hosted a community Christmas afternoon tea.  Fifty six retired and semi-retired members of our local community came to enjoy some festive food, warm drinks and entertainment by our students.  Mrs Marriott organised a fantastic array of musical performances; one by the percussion group, another by our a capella singers and the last by the Big Band.

Guests were delighted with their gifts of a homemade card, signed by Mr Blyghton and a little box of chocolate treats as well as conversation with our Year 10 helpers.  Many also walked away with prizes – local businesses, really excited by the event, had donated towards a complimentary raffle.  Prizes ranged from boxes of chocolates to meals in restaurants.  Thank you to Sainsbury’s, Punjab Curry and Grill, Toby Carvery and The Jasmine in Bexleyheath and Melucci’s in Bexley for their very kind donations.

Since the event, we have received several emails of thanks:

‘We would all like to thanks everyone involved in making the afternoon so wonderful.  Please give our thanks to everyone who helped.  We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.’

‘I attended the afternoon tea event at your school today.  I wish to congratulate you all for putting on a very enjoyable and entertaining event.  Many thanks for a very pleasant afternoon.  Would you also tell the boys that their behaviour was exemplary, well done!’

‘Just to thank you for a beautiful afternoon tea and entertainment.  The food and especially the soup were first class.  Plus congratulations to the band, singers and all your students who served and chatted to us.  I’m so pleased you are having another afternoon tea in February and would be grateful if you could put myself and my husband’s name down for a place.’

THANK YOU to everyone involved in making it such a success.
