A Level Curriculum

A Level Curriculum

You can create a perfect combination of subjects with 30 A-levels to choose from (see subject choices booklet for further details).

In the classroom

Each student will typically study three A level subjects. Our students receive seven 100-minute lessons per subject, per fortnight, which is more than any other local school.

Independent Study

In the mornings and between taught sessions, students have compulsory directed study periods where they can work on wider reading, practice questions, homework tasks or revision. The sessions are supervised and form part of our students' timetables. Students are advised to independently study for a minimum of five hours per subject per week.

Enrichment

Wednesday afternoons are set aside for enrichment activities. Our sixth formers are invited to engage in activities including sport, community placements and voluntary work, subject mentoring, music, drama, and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). This programme is important in developing well-rounded students who positively contribute to our wider community, as well as helping to maintain good student wellbeing.

Careers and university programme

Our students have a wide network of staff to support them in making the right decisions about their futures, in addition to a large pool of resources. Students all have their own unique login for Unifrog, an online platform for university and career-specific information and resources. A series of careers and further education information events hosted at Beths take place throughout the year to assist our students every step of the way.
